Elections for Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson will be held at our next intergroup meeting on Thursday, November 4.

In accordance with Article VII of our Bylaws, officers are elected in a staggered manner to aid in the continuity of office and ease transition. The Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson are elected in odd numbered years, and the Secretary and Treasurer in even numbered years.

This year the intergroup representatives (IGRs) will elect the Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson to begin two year terms starting January 1, 2022. Currently, Rachel S. is serving as Vice-Chairperson and is willing to stand for the Chairperson position in January. Nominations from the floor may be made at the November meeting.

Below is an outline of the responsibilities. You can get more information from our bylaws.

• The Chairperson leads the intergroup business meeting; sets the business agenda; sits as a non-voting member on all standing committees; and is responsible for forming ad hoc committees as needed. The chairperson also appoints committee chairs, with approval by the IGRs, to oversee the orderly administration of SDIAA.
• The Vice Chairperson acts as Chair in the Chair’s absence and assumes other responsibilities as delegated by the Chair.

• Answering Service (12-Step Calls) Committee Chair — Maintains the 12-Step Call Volunteer list, receives monthly statistics from the answering service company, and reports on those activities at the monthly intergroup meeting.
• Liaison Area 12 — Serves as the conduit between Area 12 and intergroup, representing SDIAA at area assemblies and area committee meetings.
• Website/Tech Committee Chair — Convenes monthly meetings with the committee regarding website/tech activity and reports at the monthly intergroup meeting.
