SOUTHERN DELAWARE INTERGROUP NEWSLETTER OCTOBER 2026

Highlighted Step/Tradition/Concept for October
Step 10: Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.
Admitting we were wrong was not a strong skill set for most of us when we entered the rooms. Righteous indignation consumed us and being convinced we were the victims in most of these scenarios we found it hard to imagine we could have been the culprit in any wrongdoing. But, if we let it, something changes us along our step-working sober journeys. Perhaps it starts with the acceptance and unconditional love we experience as we struggle to find our way in a foreign, sober world. There is safety in that love, and it can allow us to slowly let down some of our defenses and not feel so threatened. It softens us and allows us to be more open to the many possibilities offered by practicing this way of life. With a sponsor as our guide, we start to see the world, and our place in it, through different eyes. In survival mode we thought we had to be right or we surely would die. But in “being” mode we learn that admitting when we are wrong strengthens relationships and builds our self-esteem. Not a bad return for a small investment of time each night reviewing the day and what we may have done differently. So don’t delay…start that 10th Step inventory today…you won’t regret it! Tradition 10 — Alcoholics Anonymous has no opinion on outside issues; hence the A.A. name ought never be drawn into public controversy. Never since it began has Alcoholics Anonymous been divided by a major controversial issue. Nor has our Fellowship ever publicly taken side on any question in an embattled world. This, however, has been no earned virtue. It could almost be said that we were born with it, for, as one old-timer recently declared. “Practically never have I heard a heated religious, political or reform argument among A.A. members. So long as we don’t argue these matters, privately, it’s a cinch we never shall publicly”. — Reprinted from Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions© (page 179), with permission of A.A. World Services, Inc.
Concept 10 — Every service responsibility should be matched by an equal service authority — the scope of such authority to be always well defined whether by tradition, by resolution, by specific job description, or by appropriate charters and bylaws. All of this is fully implied in A.A.’s Tradition Two. Here we see the “group conscience” as the ultimate authority and the “trusted servant” as the delegated authority. One cannot function without the other. We well know that only by means of careful definitions and mutual respect can we constantly maintain a right and harmonious working balance. — Reprinted from The A.A. Service Manual combined with Twelve Concepts, 2021-2023 Edition (page c36) , with permission of A.A. World Services, Inc.

Dear A.A. Friends:
We are grateful for the many ways A.A. members support the Fellowship. Every Seventh Tradition contribution helps carry the message of hope and recovery and supports the work of your General Service Office.
As part of our ongoing effort to make contributions as simple and easy as possible, we are pleased to introduce our new contributions platform. The new platform reflects feedback we’ve heard from members and groups, offering more choices, greater flexibility, and improved tools for managing contributions. The platform will go live on the contributions page on aa.org mid-October.
We want to share what you can look forward to, as well as a few changes to familiar features.
More ways to contribute
One of the most significant improvements is the number of ways groups and members can make a contribution. The new platform will support the following payment methods and platforms:
- ACH from U.S. bank accounts
- EFT from Canadian bank accounts
- Credit and debit cards
- Apple Pay
- Google Pay
- Venmo
- PayPal
Members also will be able to make contributions in Canadian dollars (CAN$), with those contributions settling in CAN$ and acknowledgements provided in CAN$.
You will have the option to cover the processing costs associated with your contribution as well.
And for members who prefer to give anonymously, anonymous contributions will continue to be available.
More flexibility and control
The new platform provides enhanced self-service capabilities. For example, through the new contributions portal, you’ll be able to:
- Make contributions online on behalf of an Area or District.
- More easily search for groups, districts, and areas when making Seventh Tradition contributions.
We’ve heard from members who want greater flexibility in managing recurring contributions. The new platform will allow you to:
- Change the amount of a recurring contribution
- Update maximum contribution limits
- Pause or resume a recurring contribution
- Schedule a contribution for a specific date
- Select a different recurring contribution frequency after a contribution has been created
We will also now be able to provide improved communication about recurring contributions, including notifications of failed payments, expired cards, and abandoned contributions, helping you stay informed and avoid unnecessary interruptions.
Accessing the contributions portal is designed to be simple, too. There’s no password to remember and no separate login required. A secure link will be sent directly to your email address when you need to access your contribution information.
We know that with the introduction of a new platform, there may be a period of adjustment and questions from members. We are here to support you as you navigate the new platform and answer any questions you may have. Please contact memberservices@aa.org with any support questions related to the new platform.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this transition and for your ongoing generosity that supports our Fellowship.
With gratitude for your continued service to Alcoholics Anonymous,

District 13 Monthly Meeting
October 14 @ 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm
District 13 monthly meeting is held on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at St. Martha’s Episcopal Church located at 117 Maplewood St, Bethany Beach, DE.
District 13 includes Fenwick, Bethany, Frankfort, Selbyville, Dagsboro and Ocean View; geographic definition: the northern border is the Indian River; the eastern border is the Atlantic Ocean (from the DE state line) to the Inlet; the western border is Route 113, from the state line to the Indian River in Millsboro; the southern border is the DE/MD state lines).
Seventh Tradition contributions can be sent to District 13 ▼ PO Box 51 ▼ Ocean View, DE, 19970-0051.
The district meetings are an excellent resource for addressing group problems and concerns. Anyone may attend, but generally the group General Service Representative (GSR), attends on the group’s behalf and is kept up-to-date on A.A. activities and topics of interest at these monthly meetings.
In matters affecting A.A. as a whole, a group’s “conscience” is communicated to the Area Assembly by their GSR through the district committee member (DCM), who is an essential link between the GSRs and the area delegate to the General Service Conference. As leader of the district committee, made up of all GSRs in the district, the DCM is exposed to the group conscience of that district.
