October 2023 News

Southern Delaware Intergroup Posted on October 1, 2023

As Autumn arrives and leaves fall from trees, it is a time to reflect on the importance of losing old ways to make room for the new. The Big Book speaks specifically to this on Page 58 of How It Works: “Some of us have tried to hold onto our old ideas and the result was nil until we let go absolutely.” As we shed the ways that are holding us back, we experience spiritual … [Read More >>]

July 2023 News

Southern Delaware Intergroup Posted on June 28, 2023

July marks the halfway point of the year and brings Independence Day, commemorating the passage of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. The definition of Independence, according to the Webster Dictionary, is “the quality or state of being independent.” Freedom is a meaningful word during this month as we celebrate July 4th, but freedom also is resounding in our journey of sobriety and recovery. So, as we celebrate the country’s independence, let’s remember to look at our own freedoms from the clutches of alcohol and to be grateful for each day.

May 2023 News

May at the Beach

May is here and soon our rooms will be filled with wonderful sober fellows visiting the beach on vacation. Our community here is recognized by visitors as an amazing, close and dedicated group of recovering alcoholics. We truly are the lucky ones. So, as we welcome and get to know our out-of-towners this season, let’s offer a hand and support during a time that could be challenging for them, particularly those newly sober, as they navigate group vacation homes shared with drinkers, family interactions and going out to local establishments where alcohol can be pervasive.

January 2023 News

Southern Delaware Intergroup Posted on January 1, 2023
RB-2023

As we welcome the new year, we reflect this month on Step One, which is the fundamental reason most of us seek sobriety and recovery. Without admitting we are powerless over alcohol, there is not the chance to seek the institutional wisdom of others in A.A. who have done the same. holiday-beach

Greetings of the season and happy holidays to all. While it seems like this year has flown past, it is important to reflect on the progress we have made as a group, as well as, individual growth as a result of staying in recovery. As we wind down the year and gear up for the holidays, let’s remember the Twelfth Step and carry the message to alcoholics and to practice these principles in all our affairs. Let’s look for opportunities to reach out to those who may need an extra hand or ear during the holiday season.
