As summer is winding down and we go into the month of September, there’s quite a bit of activity to report for the month. And yes, the kids go back to school, and we have a wonderful 30 days ahead of us at the beach.
2020 International Convention of Alcoholics Anonymous
Get Ready! Online registration begins September 9, 2019 on aa.org for the 2020 International Convention of Alcoholics Anonymous which will be held July 2–5, 2020 in Detroit, Michigan. “Love and Tolerance is our Code” is the theme of the convention.
Advanced registration for the convention between September 9, 2019 and April 14, 2020 will be $115.00 (USD) per attendee. Registration after April 15, 2020 will be $140.00 (USD) per attendee. Meeting Guide Update
The Meeting Guide, a free of charge meeting finder app for iOS and Android that provides meeting information from A.A. service entities in an easy-to-access format has been updated. The recent update is brought to you by Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, who now has ownership of the app.
Meeting Guide syncs with participating area, district, intergroup/central offices and international General Service Office websites (some of which are listed on A.A. Near You), relaying meeting information from more than 300 A.A. service entities directly to you. Over 100,000 weekly meetings are currently listed, and the information is refreshed twice daily.
New and enhanced services include:
- Search — Find A.A meetings by name or location, in addition to day and time.
- Daily Reflections — a selection of reflections by and for A.A. members.
- Location — Enhanced location functionality.
- User Interface — Expanded user interface, with a new menu bar and “Contact” feature.
- News — Learn about events at the General Service Office (G.S.O.) and Grapevine, as well as information about updates within the app.

The theme for the 34th Annual Intergroup/Central Office/AAWS/AAGV Seminar held at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Phoenix Mesa Arizona, September 27, 28 and 29, 2019 (with Day Trip on September 26th) is “Local Service with Mutual Cooperation and Harmony“.
